This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create intuitive, responsive, and sustainable user experiences for a space vehicle mission planning platform.
• Convert design mockups, user insights, and system requirements into effective user interfaces.
• Write clean, tested, and maintainable code.
• Take ownership of small to medium features from development through testing and deployment.
• Develop and enhance APIs and backend services.
• Design and sustain backend functionality utilizing Python, SQL, RESTful APIs, and containerized architectures.
• Collaborate with QA and other engineering teams to troubleshoot issues, verify functionality, and fulfill requirements.
• Compose and maintain automated unit, integration, and functional tests.
• Engage in code reviews and offer constructive feedback.
• Make engineering trade-offs and communicate assumptions, dependencies, risks, and technical considerations.
• Contribute to improvements in product usability, quality, security, performance, and maintainability.
• Provide support for mission planning and command and control software for U.S. Government space communications initiatives.
• 2–5 years of professional experience in web or software development using contemporary development methodologies.
• Strong foundational skills in front-end development, including modern UI principles, component-based architecture, responsive design, performance, and usability.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, and/or Vue.
• Experience in translating designs, user requirements, and specifications into production-quality user experiences.
• Full-stack development experience with backend systems, encompassing Python, API development and integration, application architecture, and service-to-service communication.
• Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
• Experience in developing, consuming, and integrating APIs.
• Knowledge of containerized and microservices architectures using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience collaborating with QA throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Experience in writing automated tests.
• Understanding of software engineering best practices, including code reviews, version control, automated testing, security, performance, and maintainability.
• Capability to independently manage well-defined features, prioritize tasks, identify edge cases, and communicate risks or dependencies.
• Ability to make informed engineering decisions and recognize when further guidance is necessary.
• Strong communication skills and experience working with engineers, end users, and cross-functional teams.
• Experience in developing, testing, or deploying software within air-gapped or highly secure government network environments.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government TS/SCI clearance.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be eligible to secure and retain a U.S. Top Secret security clearance and qualify for a TS/SCI clearance.
• Must meet the relevant U.S. Government export-control eligibility criteria.
