Full Stack Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Assume full technical ownership of the application encompassing React frontend, Node.js backend, SQL database, APIs, and integrations.

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain scalable and dependable application solutions.

• Convert business requirements into technical designs and implementations.

• Make informed technical decisions with a focus on scalability, performance, security, maintainability, and reliability.

• Actively contribute to development and complex technical implementation tasks.

• Review code and designs to ensure engineering quality and compliance with standards.

• Provide guidance and mentorship to developers on implementation strategies and engineering best practices.

• Identify and mitigate technical debt, performance bottlenecks, architectural deficiencies, and security issues.

• Diagnose complex application and production problems and lead efforts to resolve root causes.

• Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, Architecture, and other stakeholders throughout the delivery lifecycle.

• Ensure proper testing, monitoring, logging, documentation, and production readiness are in place.

• Continuously enhance application quality, performance, stability, and maintainability.

• Advocate for and enforce information security practices, evaluate and report security risks, and ensure data protection throughout the information lifecycle.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 6 years of software development experience, ideally in full-stack application development.

• Strong practical experience with React, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, and SQL.

• Proven experience in taking ownership or playing a critical technical role in medium-to-large applications.

• Familiarity with the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC): requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.

• Experience in troubleshooting complex issues across frontend, backend, database, and integration layers.

• Experience in conducting code reviews and mentoring or guiding fellow engineers.

• Expertise in React including components, hooks, state management, routing, reusable UI design, API integration, and frontend performance optimization.

• Proficiency in Node.js, including backend/service development, REST APIs, asynchronous programming, authentication/authorization, error handling, and logging.

• Strong skills in SQL query writing, relational database design, indexing, query optimization, and performance troubleshooting.

• High proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript.

• Comprehensive understanding of REST APIs, system integrations, and application architecture.

• Knowledgeable in software design principles, coding standards, and design patterns.

• Excellent debugging, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

• Capability to understand an application comprehensively and evaluate the impact of changes across the system.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment practices.

• Experience with unit, integration, and automated testing methodologies.

• Exposure to microservices and distributed architectures.

• Knowledge of application security and secure coding practices.

• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools.

• Experience in modernizing legacy applications and reducing technical debt.

• Understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

• Must adhere to information security practices, risk assessment, data privacy, and data protection requirements.
