This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as a technical expert on front-end architecture, frameworks, and accessibility compliance for IRS applications aimed at taxpayers.
• Lead the design and development of responsive, accessible, and user-friendly web interfaces utilizing React, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
• Ensure adherence to USWDS, ODG, and WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards.
• Conduct code reviews to verify compliance with federal design and accessibility standards.
• Collaborate with product owners, designers, and back-end engineers to devise technical strategies for scalable, reusable UI components.
• Offer expertise in front-end performance optimization, API integration, and secure coding best practices.
• Assist with CI/CD integration for front-end deployments using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and automated testing tools.
• Mentor front-end developers through code reviews, sharing best practices, and fostering skills development.
• Serve as a liaison among design, accessibility, and development teams throughout the Agile lifecycle.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Capability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust background investigation.
• Minimum requirement is a favorable Tier 2 – Moderate Risk Public Trust (SF-85P) investigation.
• A favorable suitability determination is necessary before obtaining staff-like access to IRS information systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• CompTIA Sec+ or an equivalent DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification is preferred.
• Over 10 years of experience as a front-end developer.
• At least 7 years in a senior or Subject Matter Expert (SME) role on IT or government projects.
• Demonstrated experience in Agile/Scrum environments delivering enterprise-scale web applications.
• Strong expertise in React, JavaScript frameworks, and cloud-hosted applications in AWS/Kubernetes settings.
• Deep knowledge of React, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and contemporary front-end development methodologies.
• Solid understanding of USWDS, ODG, and WCAG 2.2 AA.
• Advanced proficiency in creating scalable, reusable UI component libraries.
• Skills in front-end performance optimization, automated testing with Jest, Cypress, and Selenium, as well as CI/CD workflows.
• Ability to design front-end solutions and provide advice on technical decision-making for enterprise applications.
• Capability to mentor developers and lead code reviews while ensuring compliance with accessibility and security standards.
• AWS Certified Developer – Associate or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate is preferred.
• Certified Scrum Developer (CSD) or another Agile-related certification is preferred.
• Certified Secure Software Library Professional (CSSLP) or an equivalent security-focused credential is preferred.
• AAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) or Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) is preferred.
• Must satisfy eligibility conditions for access to classified information and be able to secure a government-granted security clearance.
• May be subject to background checks, including criminal history, employment and education verification, drug testing, and creditworthiness assessments.
