This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Take charge of the fraud strategy for the card issuance program from the initial risk assessment before launch to ongoing monitoring after the program goes live.
• Convert the division of responsibilities from our infrastructure partner into an operational decision-making model.
• Develop and manage the authorization decision-making process for card transactions, encompassing approve/decline logic, 3DS/SCA step-up, velocity limits, and cross-card/cross-account relationships.
• Track fraud-to-sales and dispute ratios against card network benchmarks, including Visa VAMP and Mastercard's excessive chargeback program.
• Establish the cardholder fraud lifecycle, which includes monitoring onboarding risk, first-card-use, and identifying patterns at the BIN and portfolio levels.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to integrate controls into card issuance and wallet funding/spending workflows.
• Oversee the card dispute and chargeback strategy, which includes network reason codes and the representment process, in collaboration with Fraud Operations.
• Act as the fraud representative during vendor discussions and ensure that requirements documentation remains up-to-date.
• Utilize SQL/BigQuery to assess fraud exposure, backtest authorization thresholds, and monitor indicators post-launch.
• Create a reusable fraud playbook for upcoming card products and market expansions.
• 4–7+ years of experience in fraud/risk strategy, with direct, hands-on involvement in card authorization decision-making—whether on the issuer, acquirer, program manager, or processor side.
• Solid understanding of card network operations: authorization/clearing/settlement processes, 3DS/SCA, network fraud-monitoring programs (such as Visa VAMP or similar Mastercard chargeback initiatives), and dispute reason codes.
• Experience with or assessment of BaaS/program-manager card issuing vendors (like Stripe Issuing, Marqeta, Galileo, or comparable), including negotiation of fraud Areas of Responsibility/RACI.
• Proficiency in advanced SQL.
• Proven tendency to favor product and action-based fraud controls (such as step-up authentication, holds, dynamic friction) rather than relying solely on rules as a solution.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity in a 0-to-1 program—translating vendor documentation, legal, and compliance inputs into a functional operating model.
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills; this role operates at the intersection of Fraud, Product, Compliance, and external vendors.
• Proficient in advanced English.
• Competitive salary.
• Initial stock options grant.
• Annual performance bonus.
• 401(k) plan.
• Health, dental, and vision benefits.
• Opportunities for continuous learning.
• Unlimited paid time off (PTO).
• Paid parental leave.
• Opportunities for professional growth in a dynamic entrepreneurial environment.
• Work model: fully remote at present, transitioning to a hybrid setup in the future.
