This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Take ownership of the fraud strategy for the card issuance program, managing everything from pre-launch risk evaluations to ongoing monitoring after the program goes live.
• Convert the infrastructure partner's responsibilities into an operational decision-making model and implement effective controls.
• Develop and manage the authorization decision-making process for card transactions, which includes approve/decline logic, 3DS/SCA step-up, velocity limits, and cross-card/cross-account linkages.
• Track fraud-to-sales ratios and dispute metrics to ensure compliance with card network thresholds, such as Visa VAMP and Mastercard's chargeback program.
• Establish the cardholder fraud lifecycle, which encompasses onboarding risk, monitoring first card usage, and detecting patterns at the BIN and portfolio levels.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to integrate controls into card issuance, wallet funding, and spending processes.
• Manage the strategy for card disputes and chargebacks, including understanding network reason codes and developing a representment approach in collaboration with Fraud Operations.
• Act as the fraud representative during vendor discussions and keep the requirements document up to date.
• Utilize SQL/BigQuery to assess fraud exposure, conduct backtesting of authorization thresholds, and monitor indicators after launch.
• Create a reusable fraud playbook for future card products and market expansions.
• 4–7+ years of experience in fraud or risk strategy, with hands-on involvement in card authorization decision-making—whether on the issuer, acquirer, program manager, or processor side.
• Familiarity with card network operations, including authorization, clearing, settlement flow, 3DS/SCA, and network fraud-monitoring programs (such as Visa VAMP or equivalent and Mastercard's excessive chargeback programs), as well as dispute reason codes.
• Experience in working with or assessing BaaS/program manager card issuing vendors (like Stripe Issuing, Marqeta, Galileo, or similar), including negotiating fraud Areas of Responsibility (AoR) and RACI matrices.
• Proficient in advanced SQL.
• Proven inclination towards product-driven and action-oriented fraud controls (such as step-up authentication, holds, and dynamic friction) rather than relying solely on rules as the default solution.
• Ability to navigate through ambiguity in a 0-to-1 program—translating vendor documentation, legal, and compliance insights into a functional operating model.
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills, as this role interacts with Fraud, Product, Compliance, and external vendors.
• Proficient in advanced English.
• Initial stock options grant.
• Annual performance-based bonus.
• Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans.
• Ongoing learning and development opportunities.
• Unlimited paid time off (PTO).
• Paid parental leave.
• Work model: currently fully remote, with plans to transition to a hybrid setup in the future.
• Opportunities for personal growth in a dynamic entrepreneurial environment.
