Founding Partner, Lawyer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Co-establish and grow a California law firm that is AI-focused.

• Take ownership and manage the law firm, which includes its license, entity, clientele, and professional judgment.

• Co-create the management services organization in collaboration with Omnilex.

• Develop the MSO in partnership with Omnilex, taking charge of AI systems, engineering, operations, finance, marketing, administration, and recruitment.

• Operate both the law firm and MSO under an arm's-length service agreement.

• Transform professional relationships and a book of business into client engagements.

• Utilize legal judgment, advocacy, litigation, and client relationship management skills.

• Assist in establishing the infrastructure for intake, conflicts, research, drafting, review, matter management, and billing.

• Capture and organize legal knowledge from cases to enhance future matters and client interactions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be admitted to practice in California and maintain good standing.

• Must be senior enough that clients choose you over the firm’s letterhead.

• Should have an established book of business and connections with general counsels, partners, founders, and alumni.

• Capable of converting professional relationships into client engagements.

• Interested in the prospect of founding and owning a law firm.

• Must possess knowledge of legal ethics, including independence of judgment, fee-sharing, confidentiality, and unauthorized practice.

• Comfortable with MSO structures and aware of their legal limitations.

• Strong legal skills and problem-solving capabilities are essential.

• Tech-savvy and interested in the application of AI in the legal field.

• Must be comfortable working in an early-stage venture lacking an established brand, precedent bank, or support staff.

• Bonus: experience in building or advising on MSO, ABS, or alternative legal service frameworks.

• Bonus: prior responsibility for a profit and loss statement or a practice group.

• Bonus: litigation experience as well as advisory work.

• Bonus: proficiency in a second language.
