Forward Deployment Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Implement, integrate, and manage CruxOCM software within live process control settings through production deployment.

• Develop, configure, and deliver integrations, data flows, and state machine logic tailored to specific site systems and operational practices.

• Commission, assess, and verify solutions in client environments.

• Identify and resolve issues at the intersection of software, data, and control systems.

• Take ownership of technical results beyond the go-live phase and convey insights from the field, reusable connectors, and product deficiencies to engineering and product teams.

• Coordinate with third-party commissioning and installation teams while taking responsibility for technical outcomes.

• Define success metrics alongside operators and stakeholders, showcase operational value, and document adoption and customer results.

• Utilize pipeline operations, hydraulic modeling/simulation, and change management expertise to scope and develop solutions.

• Establish and configure Windows servers and OPC servers.

• Design HMI systems within SCADA environments.

• Collaborate with product, engineering, sales, and customers to serve as the technical liaison between customer requirements and product development.

• Report directly to the Forward Deployment Engineering Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or Technology Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Controls Engineering (or equivalent experience).

• Extensive background in deploying and supporting complex software in critical environments.

• Experience with scripting or programming (Python, PowerShell, or similar).

• Proficient understanding of Windows Server and network administration.

• Familiarity with SQL, relational databases, and time series databases.

• Ability to convert operational feedback into tangible modifications in software logic.

• Experience in drafting specification documents and technical reports.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Capability to review colleagues' work and offer constructive feedback.

• Self-driven, adaptable, and focused on continuous improvement with minimal supervision.

• Strong skills in time management, prioritization, decision-making, and reliability.

• Sharp troubleshooting skills and a detail-oriented approach to work.

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%.

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools, industrial communication protocols, SCADA, pipeline operations, or hydraulic modeling/simulators is a plus.
