Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with customers to outline workflows, pinpoint valuable AI applications, and establish the scope, success metrics, and acceptance criteria.

• Develop production-ready agents, applications, APIs, and integrations utilizing Trase OS, encompassing backend services and user interfaces as necessary.

• Seamlessly integrate customer systems, data sources, and identity providers; partner with infrastructure engineers to implement in customer or Trase-managed settings.

• Take ownership of delivery throughout testing, deployment, customer validation, and operational transition; proactively highlight dependencies, risks, and scope adjustments.

• Incorporate evaluations, automated testing, observability, and human review or escalation within agent workflows; ensure validation of quality, latency, cost, and reliability.

• Implement appropriate access controls, data-handling protocols, and audit logging in collaboration with Security and customer teams.

• Troubleshoot production issues spanning application, data, integration, and infrastructure layers; document solutions and create actionable runbooks.

• Contribute reusable components and provide product feedback to Origin and Arena; work together on platform enhancements instead of maintaining redundant custom implementations.

• Deliver functional solutions that enhance customer workflows and yield quantifiable results.

• Act as a liaison between customer requirements and platform engineering, identifying gaps early and developing practical solutions.

• Transform successful deployments into reusable integrations and patterns that assist future customers in launching more efficiently.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering production software, showcasing strong skills in coding, testing, debugging, and API design.

• Proficient in a contemporary programming language such as Python, Java, or TypeScript, with experience in databases, backend services, and external integrations.

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, containers, CI/CD, and monitoring; adept at troubleshooting deployed applications.

• Capability to convert customer needs into actionable tasks and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Practical knowledge of LLM applications or AI agents, including their constraints, assessment, and secure interaction with customer data and systems.

• Commitment to delivery and quality, curiosity about customer operations, and comfort in navigating incomplete requirements.

• Occasional travel to customers may be necessary.
