Forward Deployed Engineer, Applied AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with GP clients to pinpoint workflows where custom AI agents can provide leverage.

• Assist in the discovery process and transform vague business challenges into clear requirements, scope, and acceptance criteria.

• Manage owned components through prototyping, client validation, hardening, deployment, rollout, and production phases.

• Design and create agentic systems that include retrieval and context design, tool and MCP integration, orchestration, evaluation harnesses, observability, and cost management.

• Work on client-edge solutions and collaborate with platform and product engineering teams for core-system integrations.

• Make engineering decisions that balance speed, reliability, security, and maintainability.

• Operate deployed solutions during adoption, including post-launch support and iterative improvements based on user feedback.

• Generate documentation, train users, and assist with rollouts to promote adoption.

• Contribute reusable patterns to the Applied AI component library.

• Progress towards independently leading engagements.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in delivering production software, with practical experience in developing AI-enabled applications.

• Proven ability to convert ambiguous business needs into detailed requirements and produce functional software.

• Full-stack engineering skills spanning data, services, user interfaces, and the underlying infrastructure.

• Familiarity with a major cloud provider, containers, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and production monitoring.

• Confidence in deploying and troubleshooting your work.

• Comfort in working directly with external clients or customers.

• Proficiency in AI-assisted development, with the ability to understand, debug, and defend all delivered solutions.

• Developing product judgment, including defining project scope, prioritizing tasks, and recognizing when a task is complete.

• Excellent written communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience in private markets, financial services, or other regulated, data-sensitive domains (preferred).

• Knowledge of application security, client data management, contractual and SOC 2 obligations, and multi-tenant isolation (preferred).

• Experience in building evaluation and regression testing for non-deterministic systems (preferred).

• Background in consulting, professional services, or forward-deployed engineering (preferred).
