Forward Deployed AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Design and develop comprehensive AI applications on Cloudera that illustrate how AI and agentic systems address enterprise challenges.

• Collaborate directly with key customer teams to advance AI and agentic projects from initial prototypes to production-ready solutions.

• Provide guidance to customer leaders on AI strategy, prioritization of use cases, deployment factors, and alignment with organizational objectives.

• Codify successful methodologies into reproducible reference architectures, productized solutions, starter kits, and internal documentation.

• Mentor Cloudera teams and contribute to initiatives that enhance AI capabilities.

• Relay field and customer insights to Product teams to enhance AI platforms and offerings.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in building and deploying production-grade systems, with 2–3 years focused on Generative AI or agentic applications.

• Proficient in software engineering, data engineering, and applied AI/ML with practical experience.

• Skilled in constructing full-stack AI applications or agentic systems utilizing contemporary AI frameworks and tools.

• Familiarity with foundational models, context engineering, fine-tuning, semantic search, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and agentic workflows.

• Profound knowledge of LLMOps/MLOps practices, encompassing evaluation, observability, serving, monitoring, and lifecycle management.

• Experience in designing and implementing scalable AI solution architectures in accordance with enterprise standards, including security, governance, and compliance.

• Capability to engage effectively with both technical and executive audiences, translating their needs into actionable technical strategies.

• Capacity to work independently in fast-paced, ambiguous customer environments.

• Team-oriented mindset with a passion for empowering others through mentorship, internal training, or developing reusable tools.

• Proficient with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Familiarity with the Cloudera platform.

• Knowledge of open-source big data technologies including Spark, Iceberg, or NiFi.

• Experience with AI infrastructure and runtime technologies like NVIDIA GPUs, inference optimization, model serving, or distributed AI workloads.
