Forensic, Toxicological Chemist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Craft intricate single-turn prompts related to chemistry and chemical safety, categorized as benign, dual-use, or adversarial.

• Assess model outputs according to established policy standards.

• Evaluate whether responses appropriately address technical and potentially hazardous requests.

• Develop reference answers that explain correct responses along with the technical reasoning behind them.

• Conduct red-team assessments on cutting-edge AI models by testing their responses to legitimate and hazardous chemistry inquiries.

• Provide written justifications that are comprehensible to non-experts.

• Engage in reading and writing about misuse scenarios in the field for extended durations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in controlled substance casework in a forensic lab, including identification and quantification.

• Background in clandestine laboratory response, precursor identification, and scene chemistry.

• Knowledge in forensic toxicology, encompassing postmortem or human performance casework.

• Familiarity with seized-drug and precursor trend analysis or intelligence assessment.

• Experience in providing expert testimony and drafting reports on chemical casework.

• Ability to differentiate between routine professional inquiries and those seeking dangerous information.

• Strong technical writing skills; each decision must include a written rationale that is accessible to non-specialists.

• Previous experience in technical writing, published research, or expert witness roles is highly desirable.

• Must refrain from using classified or export-controlled information, or information protected by an NDA or prepublication review requirement.

• Required to disclose any such obligations to appropriately scope the work.
