Forensic Firearms and Toolmark Examination Expert

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Egypt, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Review benchmark responses from AI models across 10 test cases related to forensic firearm and toolmark examinations.

• Evaluate the scientific validity, thoroughness, and reasoning behind responses concerning microscopic comparative ballistics and toolmark identification.

• Assess analyses involving firing pin impressions, breech face impressions, and other markings on cartridge cases.

• Examine the interpretation of bullet characteristics, rifling impressions, and associated ballistic evidence.

• Determine if AI-generated conclusions are consistent with established forensic laboratory methodologies and AFTE standards.

• Identify technical inaccuracies, unsupported conclusions, and deficiencies in forensic reasoning.

• Provide clear and constructive written and verbal feedback on the performance of the model.

• Document suggestions for enhancing AI-generated forensic evaluations and technical explanations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Direct professional experience as a Forensic Firearms and Toolmark Examiner or a similar specialist conducting firearm and toolmark examinations.

• Practical experience with comparison microscopy and the examination of bullets and cartridge cases.

• Proven expertise in the comparison, identification, and interpretation of bullets and toolmarks.

• Hands-on experience in analyzing firing pin impressions, breech face impressions, and other firearm-related toolmarks.

• Familiarity with AFTE standards, theoretical concepts, and examination practices.

• Knowledge of forensic laboratory procedures, documentation, and scientific reporting.

• Strong attention to detail and the capability to differentiate between scientifically supported findings and unsupported interpretations.

• Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to convey complex forensic concepts clearly.
