Forensic Electrical Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Perform field inspections to identify the origin, cause, and extent of electrical failures, including incidents such as fires, explosions, and system malfunctions.

• Analyze and assess the root causes and severity of failures and damages related to electrical systems, components, and devices.

• Create clear, well-supported conclusions and generate detailed technical reports and documentation.

• Provide prompt and professional updates to clients, attorneys, insurers, and internal stakeholders.

• Manage client expectations while fostering strong relationships.

• Operate independently from a home office, utilizing internal expertise and resources across various disciplines.

• Lead investigations to completion, ensuring that high-quality deliverables align with client expectations and industry standards.

• Offer suggestions to enhance processes, tools, and technical methodologies to improve outcomes for clients.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5–10 years of experience in working with or designing electrical systems.

• Forensic engineering experience is highly preferred.

• Experience in investigating electrical failures, fires, or explosions.

• Preferred experience as an expert witness, including depositions and trial testimony.

• Strong technical writing skills with the ability to produce clear and defensible reports.

• Excellent verbal communication and client service abilities.

• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team environment.

• Proficient with technical tools, including computers, cameras, and engineering software.

• Must possess legal authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship.

• A Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is mandatory.

• Additional state licenses or the ability to obtain them through reciprocity is preferred.

• CFEI (NAFI), CFI, or related certifications are preferred.

• Having an NCEES Record is preferred.

• Ability to conduct field investigations in confined spaces, on rooftops, and in industrial settings.

• Capability to safely transport equipment and perform site assessments.

• Willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationally as required, including occasional overnight trips.

• A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university is required.
