This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Report directly to the CFO.

• Oversee the outsourced accounting operations.

• Manage the complete monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.

• Establish a close calendar along with consistent accounting procedures.

• Design and document accounting policies, internal controls, and workflows.

• Take ownership of revenue recognition for prepay, usage-based, and pay-as-you-go contracts in accordance with GAAP and ASC 606.

• Lead the order-to-cash process from invoicing through to collections.

• Reconcile usage-based billing with contracted commitments.

• Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance billing accuracy and reduce payment processing time.

• Ensure audit readiness, prepare audit-ready workpapers, and manage relationships with external auditors.

• Assess current tools and spearhead the selection and implementation of ERP and finance systems.

• Identify and integrate suitable AI finance tools, including Sparrow's proprietary tools.

• Recruit and oversee an in-house accounting team as functions transition from the outsourced provider.

⛳️ Requirements

• CPA is preferred but not mandatory.

• 8 to 10+ years of relevant professional experience.

• Experience with a Big 4 or a national firm.

• Background in a high-growth startup is advantageous but not essential.

• Extensive knowledge of US GAAP.

• Practical experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition.

• Familiarity with ERP systems and billing platforms.

• Experience in selecting or implementing ERP or other systems is a plus.

• Significant experience in integrating AI into workflows and developing AI-first processes.

• Strong communication skills with the ability to convey accounting concepts in a clear, jargon-free manner.

• High standards of integrity and discretion.

• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Must be physically located and working within the United States.
