This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Take responsibility for the integrity, reliability, and scalability of Gridsight’s financial operations.
• Manage the entire accounting process and develop systems and controls to scale across different entities and jurisdictions.
• Oversee month-end and year-end closures, consolidations, reconciliations, and management reporting for all entities.
• Maintain the general ledger, balance sheet, and financial statements, ensuring thorough documentation and audit trails.
• Establish and enforce accounting policies regarding revenue recognition, capitalization, and other significant judgments.
• Generate reports for the VP of Operations, executive team, Board members, and investors.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, collections, payroll, expenses, banking, and treasury functions.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital, and runway across various entities and currencies.
• Ensure compliance with tax, statutory, payroll, and regulatory obligations.
• Lead audit preparations and coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, banks, payroll providers, and other external partners.
• Manage transfer pricing, the R&D Tax Incentive, and other compliance requirements.
• Design controls, approval frameworks, and operational rhythms.
• Own the finance systems roadmap and create a single source of truth across accounting, billing, payroll, expenses, and reporting.
• Automate repetitive tasks using modern tools, including AI when beneficial.
• Document processes to eliminate key-person dependencies.
• Collaborate with the VP of Operations on budgeting, forecasting, Board reporting, fundraising assistance, and scenario planning.
• Work with functional leaders on budgets, performance metrics, and financial decision-making.
• Convert financial results into insights, identifying risks and recommending actions.
• Lead and develop the internal finance team and outsourced partners.
• CA, CPA, or equivalent qualification, demonstrating strong technical accounting judgment.
• Proven experience managing a complete accounting function, including closing processes, reporting, audits, taxes, and operational finance.
• Background in a rapidly growing technology company, preferably with multi-entity, multi-currency, and international operations.
• Practical knowledge of SaaS, enterprise software, or other intricate contract-based revenue models.
• A builder's mindset with experience in enhancing systems, controls, and processes.
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to clearly communicate financial issues to non-financial leaders.
• High-ownership, low-ego work style, and readiness to transition between detailed execution and broader business collaboration.
• Experience with Big 4 or mid-tier audits, ERP implementation, or support during fundraising is advantageous but not mandatory.
