Finance Manager – Controllership Function

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Direct all local accounting functions, encompassing month-end closure, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.

• Ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP, company accounting policies, and internal control standards.

• Collaborate with corporate accounting teams to facilitate consolidated reporting and audit inquiries.

• Maintain precise books and records while ensuring the timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.

• Oversee comprehensive billing operations, including invoice creation, compliance with contractual billing, work-in-progress management, billing-cycle efficiency, and revenue realization.

• Manage accounts receivable, collection processes, and cash application activities, focusing on DSO, aging receivables, collection performance, dispute resolution, and working capital metrics.

• Lead and supervise accounts payable functions, including vendor onboarding, invoice processing, payment approvals, cash disbursements, and vendor relationship management.

• Act as the primary liaison with corporate FP&A, coordinating KPI and other monthly reporting.

• Ensure the company adheres to tax-related obligations.

• Serve as a point of contact for external professional service firms.

• Manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize effectively.

• Provide support for one of the company’s newly acquired ventures.

• Travel as required for impactful team meetings, approximately 5% of the time.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

• 8–10 years of experience in the accounting field.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting responsibilities and work scope.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Proficient in MS Excel.

• Collaborative mindset with a passion for working within a mission-driven team.

• Quickbooks experience is preferred.

• CPA or MBA credentials.

• Experience in Billing, Treasury, and Data Analytics is highly preferred.

• A minimum of 2 years in a managerial position.

• Background in the Insurance Services industry is advantageous.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365.

• Experience with Big 4 or other public accounting firms.

• Experience in a global professional services firm with up to 1,000 employees.

• Must be capable of performing mathematical computations for 80% of the workday.

• Must be able to review transactional details for 50% of daily responsibilities.

• Availability for on-call duties or working weekends or nights as necessary.

• Minimal travel requirements.
