Finance Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Manage unit economics by developing and sustaining cost-to-serve, gross margin, and contribution models.

• Oversee the budgeting process for the technology organization, including the attribution of cloud and GPU/TPU expenditures, as well as vendor and capacity forecasting.

• Create and maintain finance dashboards that track burn, runway, margin, and company KPIs.

• Automate the budget-versus-actuals reporting with department-level insights and alerts for overspending.

• Establish pricing guardrails for the deal desk, including the generation of quotes and order forms, alongside workflow routing.

• Implement automation for sales compensation leveraging CRM and billing data.

• Design and deploy finance tools and agents to extract, reconcile, and summarize financial information.

• Develop and sustain finance data pipelines from billing, payroll, cloud, and accounting systems into a structured warehouse.

• Collaborate with Finance, Controller, sales, engineering, and infrastructure leadership to identify discrepancies and implement solutions.

• Report directly to the VP of Finance and engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the organization.

⛳️ Requirements

• Solid understanding of data engineering principles, including SQL, Python, warehouse modeling, and orchestration tools such as dbt, Airflow, or their equivalents.

• Experience handling financial or operational data—revenue, cost, billing, payroll, or cloud expenditures—and a strong grasp of revenue, cost, and margin frameworks.

• Proven history of developing internal tools, dashboards, or automations that are essential for non-engineers on a daily basis.

• Knowledge of LLM-based agent workflows and their application in operational processes.

• Proficient Python programming skills.

• Strong communication abilities and a collaborative approach to teamwork.

• Familiarity with accounting, billing, or ERP system APIs (such as NetSuite, Stripe, or similar) is advantageous.

• A background in finance/accounting and experience in revenue operations are beneficial but not mandatory.
