Field Support Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Deliver expert field service, maintenance, and technical assistance for EUROIMMUN instruments and products.

• Address routine, emergency, and service inquiries while diagnosing equipment issues.

• Confirm instrument functionality prior to providing devices to end users.

• Install, relocate, and retire instrumentation at client locations.

• Conduct scheduled hardware preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, upgrades, and warranty services.

• Foster positive and professional communication with clients and team members.

• Log all activities in compliance with company service protocols, procedures, and FDA standards.

• Manage loaner equipment, testing instruments, spare parts inventory, and company supplies.

• Offer customer training and technical assistance regarding equipment operation and upkeep.

• Participate in professional trade exhibitions as required.

• Organize travel arrangements according to the Travel Policy.

• Maintain a thorough understanding of instrumentation, products, techniques, and technical challenges through continuous training and professional growth.

• Comply with company policies, procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Travel to client sites, professional society exhibitions, and other necessary locations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate Degree or Technical Degree in Applied Science, Biology, Chemistry, Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or a STEM field; or 4 years of military training; or vocational education focused on instrumentation and computers.

• A minimum of two years’ experience as a field service representative or laboratory medical technologist/scientist.

• Theoretical and hands-on experience with diagnostic instrumentation products, particularly automated chemiluminescent (CLIA) and enzyme immunoassay (EIA) systems.

• Fundamental understanding of assays.

• Experience in biomechanics, servicing, repairing, and quality control for medical laboratory instruments, personal computers, and application software.

• Familiarity with FDA regulations relevant to instrumentation service operations.

• Capability to operate independently with minimal oversight.

• Proficient in delivering training and information seminars to clients.

• Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Suite and basic networking skills.

• Ability to work across all areas of the laboratory.

• Willingness to travel frequently overnight and potentially on weekends.

• International travel may be necessary.

• Capacity to frequently lift and/or move instruments weighing up to 50 pounds.
