Field Solutions Engineer – Database

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

📋 Description

• Pre-Sales Ownership: Take charge of the comprehensive SE strategy for database-centric customer interactions throughout EMEA, which includes designing meeting agendas, creating story arcs, determining technical approaches, and ensuring follow-through.

• Product Demonstrations & Webinars: Execute engaging online and in-person demonstrations of SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer (DPA), SQL Sentry, Database Observability (DBO), and other related database solutions, customizing the messaging to address the customer's specific database challenges and environment.

• Technical Discovery & Solution Design: Facilitate in-depth discovery sessions with customers to gain insights into their database landscape, performance pain points, and operational objectives. Evaluate the customer's existing database infrastructure and propose solutions that enhance performance, scalability, and operational efficiency, while defining project scope, success criteria, and timelines.

• Value Articulation: Effectively communicate the value proposition of SolarWinds database solutions in relation to the customer's distinct needs, using consultative and value-driven selling techniques. Convert technical database metrics into business outcomes that resonate with both technical and executive stakeholders.

• Technical Advisory: Provide guidance to Inside and Outside Sales on all technical pre-sales aspects related to database monitoring and management, offering expert advice to Account Executives and Channel Partners on the best database solutions to meet customer needs.

• Complex POC Execution: Develop and implement intricate Proof of Concept (POC) and Proof of Value (POV) initiatives across diverse database environments (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, among others), including cloud and hybrid scenarios. Proactively identify and mitigate technical and organizational risks during the evaluation process.

• Product Configuration & Troubleshooting: Carry out advanced pre-sales technical support tasks, encompassing DPA/DBO/SQL Sentry configuration, agent deployment, environment setup, and resolving customer issues during evaluations.

• Customer & Product Feedback: Relay structured customer feedback, including feature requests, competitive insights, and product issues, to the Product Management and Development teams. Contribute to shaping internal best practices based on field experiences with database customers.

• Continuous Learning & Enablement: Sustain and continuously enhance profound technical knowledge of the SolarWinds database product portfolio and broader database technologies. Offer training, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to fellow team members, and conduct Sales/Partner enablement sessions as needed.

• Events & Field Presence: Deliver presentations at partner events, trade shows, and industry conferences. Travel to partner locations for training and enablement. Maintain a strong on-site presence with key database customers throughout the EMEA region.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3-4 years of experience in a dedicated pre-sales or solutions engineering role, preferably within a software vendor or systems integrator context, with a strong emphasis on database technologies.

• Extensive database knowledge across one or more of the following: Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra), SAP HANA, and/or IBM DB2.

• Strong understanding of database performance monitoring, query optimization, indexing strategies, wait-type analysis, and capacity planning.

• A robust combination of technical expertise, sales proficiency, and outstanding customer interaction skills, comfortable leading both executive-level discussions and detailed technical database workshops.

• Fluent in English with excellent oral and written communication and presentation abilities. The capacity to simplify complex database performance topics into clear, persuasive narratives is essential. Proficiency in Arabic is preferred.

• Demonstrated experience with cloud-based database services, including AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Google Cloud SQL, and Aurora. Knowledge of hybrid cloud database architectures is highly desirable.

• Strong reasoning, analytical, and technical troubleshooting skills, with the capability to navigate complex customer database environments.

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant Business, Computing, or Engineering field, or equivalent professional experience.
