Field Service Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mississippi.

📋 Description

• Execute the installation, testing, calibration, and upkeep of low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical equipment and control systems.

• Diagnose issues in electrical, mechanical, control, PLC, generator, switchgear, relay, and power distribution systems.

• Carry out preventive and predictive maintenance inspections.

• Identify equipment failures and ascertain root causes using technical drawings, schematics, diagnostic tools, and testing equipment.

• Perform repairs, retrofits, upgrades, and modifications to equipment.

• Address emergency service calls and offer on-call support.

• Foster and sustain positive customer relationships through professional communication and technical knowledge.

• Offer suggestions for maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and operational enhancements.

• Compile service reports that document findings, corrective measures, recommendations, and parts used.

• Aid in service quoting by conducting precise field assessments and developing scopes.

• Execute job hazard analyses and uphold safe work practices.

• Report safety concerns, incidents, and near misses.

• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

• Complete service documentation, expense reports, timesheets, and travel logs.

• Maintain company tools, testing equipment, vehicles, and inventory.

• Engage in necessary training and certification programs.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in field service, maintenance, or troubleshooting related to electrical power systems, generators, switchgear, controls, or industrial equipment.

• Experience in power generation, utilities, marine, oil and gas, manufacturing, or industrial settings is preferred.

• Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting and electrical control systems is preferred.

• Knowledge of electrical theory, power distribution systems, switchgear, generators, protective relays, and control systems.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.

• Familiarity with PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, or comparable systems.

• Proficiency in using electrical test equipment including multimeters, insulation testers, and power quality analyzers.

• Strong skills in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and service reporting software.

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

• Willingness to work extended shifts, weekends, or holidays as necessary.

• Capability to stand for prolonged periods and work near machinery.

• Ability to walk, stand, and climb stairs within the manufacturing facility.

• Capability to lift and carry items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds in accordance with OSHA standards.

• Ability to see and hear adequately to navigate the facility safely and communicate effectively.

• Compliance with company, customer, OSHA, NFPA 70E, and relevant safety standards.

• Ability to utilize appropriate PPE and adhere to lockout/tagout procedures and electrical safety standards.
