This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.
• Conduct both in-shop and field service activities
• Travel to client locations to install, repair, and provide preventative maintenance for flooded and sealed batteries, chargers, and DC power distribution systems
• Engage with individuals at all organizational levels, both internally and externally
• Create and deliver safe equipment operation training for colleagues and clients
• Execute preventative maintenance inspections and document findings
• Replace faulty components, reassemble batteries, and fuse lead parts using a gas torch
• Measure the specific gravity of solutions
• Water, wash, clean, and neutralize customers’ batteries at their locations
• Install equipment at customer facilities in accordance with specifications
• Offer on-site technical support to diagnose and repair equipment
• Maintain performance documentation
• Serve as a communication bridge between customers and the organization
• Download battery and charger data through a monitoring device to resolve issues
• Occasionally report to the local EnerSys Service Center for mandatory training, inventory management, and parts pickup/drop-off
• Carry out additional assigned responsibilities
• A high school diploma or equivalent; or relevant industry experience and/or training; or a suitable combination of education and experience
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet navigation
• Fundamental mechanical aptitude
• Prior customer service experience in field support roles
• Ability to read and comprehend documents in English and write effectively
• Capable of performing basic mathematics and solving simple equations
• Must be willing to work flexible hours and respond to after-hours service calls when necessary
• Certificate/Diploma in Mechanical/Electronics/Electrical or a related field (preferred)
• Basic understanding of electrical systems (preferred)
• Familiarity with test equipment and schematic interpretation (preferred)
• Hands-on experience in the field (preferred)
• Experience should primarily be in the Electrical field where applicable (preferred)
• Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a safe driving record with minimal traffic violations
• Willingness and ability to travel to customer locations
• Prepared to undertake overnight travel, with a maximum of 5 days per month
• Must be at least 18 years old to operate a company vehicle; 21 years of age for nonregulated/CDL vehicles
• Willingness and ability to operate a forklift
• Must meet the company's driving criteria
• Must frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch
• Must have the ability to distinguish colors
• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds/23 kilos on a daily basis
• Must be able to stand for extended periods
• Employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment as mandated
• Must be available and willing to be on-call
• Must be able and willing to wear a respirator
• Must be prepared to work overtime
• Must be flexible to work varying schedules, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
• Must be willing to work in plant/warehouse settings
• Potential exposure to electrical hazards and lead/fiberglass products; periodic blood tests are required
