Field Service Engineer II – SEM/SDB

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site installation of advanced equipment and adhere to testing protocols to ensure optimal functionality.

• Execute planned maintenance visits at customer sites as scheduled.

• Offer diagnostic and repair assistance to clients and fellow field technicians.

• Foster and nurture positive working relationships with clients, system users, and company staff.

• Travel frequently, often on short notice, to client locations to address issues or support other field service staff.

• Complete and submit comprehensive field service reports.

• Deliver training to customers and users regarding system maintenance.

• Provide constructive feedback to product quality teams.

• Revise and update documentation for Thermo Fisher systems.

• Guide report creation, including identifying and isolating unresolved system issues.

• Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for training purposes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.

• Over 3 years of practical technical experience with electronic systems, encompassing installation, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of advanced analytical tools such as SEM, TEM, FIB, or similar systems.

• In-depth knowledge and extensive experience in diagnosing and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems, or equivalent systems.

• Proven ability to interact effectively with customers.

• Exceptional interpersonal communication skills.

• Professional working proficiency in English.

• Consistent history of repairing complex systems and subsystems to the component level.

• Proficient in MS DOS and Windows software environments.

• Capable of reading and interpreting schematics.

• Familiarity with UHV phenomena and technologies.

• Eligibility to obtain a valid passport and travel regionally and internationally as necessary.

• Possession of a valid driver's license.

• Ability to lift weights up to 50 lbs.

• Willingness and capacity to travel up to 75% of the time.
