This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Develop and execute the organizing strategy for 350 Japan.

• Oversee both short-term and long-term organizing initiatives for campaigns, global events, or significant projects.

• Assist in formulating an effective global strategy for the climate movement.

• Enhance and broaden the volunteer community at 350 Japan.

• Mentor and provide guidance to activist leaders.

• Create and implement training programs for individuals, groups, and leaders.

• Ensure that training aligns with the campaign objectives of 350 Japan and is culturally relevant.

• Identify, involve, and recruit new participants for the movement.

• Aid in the discovery and development of emerging leaders.

• Engage the general populace to increase awareness and recruit volunteers and activists.

• Establish and sustain positive relationships with existing organizations and movements for cooperative climate-justice initiatives.

• Provide timely updates on progress and challenges to the line manager.

• Strong enthusiasm for tackling climate change with a fundamental understanding of the topic.

• Deep dedication to fostering a joyful and inclusive movement rooted in justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

• Ability to devise precise, actionable organizing strategies for both short-term and long-term campaigns and movement expansion.

• Openness to learn, adapt, and evolve as an organizer.

• Self-motivated with the capability to work remotely, effectively, and sustainably without daily supervision.

• A kind, collaborative team player who emphasizes accountability.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• A problem-solving mindset with the ability to think critically and creatively.

• Comfortable using or eager to learn digital organizing tools, including CRM (ActionKit), Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, LINE, Canva, and Instagram.

• Native-level fluency in Japanese.

• Business-level proficiency in English.

• Legal authorization to work for any employer in the applicant's country of residence.

• 5+ years of organizing experience or 3+ years in climate-focused movement organizing (preferred but not mandatory).
