Field Operations Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Plan and oversee intricate mineral exploration initiatives and mid-sized development programs throughout North America.

• Manage 1–3 simultaneous projects, encompassing drilling operations, electromagnetic surveys, and reconnaissance efforts.

• Direct procurement strategies, which include contractor selection, bid assessment, benchmarking, and contract management.

• Formulate project-specific risk and hazard identification, assessments, mitigation strategies, and essential controls.

• Facilitate project kick-off meetings with integrated teams and contractors.

• Implement assigned projects from mobilization to demobilization and closure.

• Supervise field operations during remote, seasonal, and extreme weather conditions.

• Monitor and project production rates, expenditures, and resource needs.

• Oversee field activities and assess contractor performance.

• Supervise KoBold personnel and contractors in the field, coordinating with project geology, data science, and planning teams.

• Manage site remediation and rehabilitation efforts.

• Conduct contractor performance evaluations and document lessons learned.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, permitting, land access, community relations, third-party agreements, and joint ventures.

• Represent KoBold Metals in North American communities, engaging with landowners, authorities, Indigenous groups, and environmental organizations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 12 years of experience in field operations within mineral exploration and mining, oil and gas, or a similar industry.

• Extensive knowledge of construction methodologies, including seasonal and terrain-specific techniques relevant to North American operational settings.

• In-depth understanding of helicopter-supported exploration, focusing on optimization and emergency response protocols.

• Solid grasp of procurement processes: RFP creation, bid assessment, and contract management.

• Thorough understanding of reclamation, rehabilitation, and closure planning.

• Proven dedication to health and safety standards, including incident management, root cause analysis, and the implementation and verification of corrective actions.

• Strong conceptual understanding of HSE, Land and Permitting, Legal, and Business Development systems as they relate to exploration projects.

• Capability to manage and oversee KoBold personnel and contractors in all aspects of field activities, especially complex and higher-risk programs.

• Skill in designing intricate field programs, including scope, cost estimates, risk assessments, procurement, and project execution plans.

• Willingness to work in remote and isolated areas for extended durations within North American environments.

• High level of independence and ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.

• Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English.

• Valid First Aid Certification is required.

• Preferred: experience with US federal/state or Canadian federal/provincial regulatory frameworks.

• Preferred: experience with dedicated exploration teams, including Geologists and Data Scientists.

• Preferred: familiarity with project management principles and managing projects remotely across various jurisdictions.

• Preferred: experience managing logistics for complex remote operations.

• French language skills are an advantage.
