Field Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Address customers' requests for field repairs and services.

• Identify equipment issues and supply detailed information to customers and Finning for quotation purposes.

• Visit customer locations to assess their needs.

• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems using the latest dealer software and repair methodologies.

• Provide estimated arrival times based on job instructions and specifics about the customer or site.

• Register arrival with site management and adhere to customer site protocols.

• Diagnose reported equipment issues in collaboration with operators/supervisors utilizing specialized tools.

• Determine required parts, place requisitions, and establish delivery timelines.

• Coordinate dates and times for necessary follow-up service visits.

• Perform repair and service tasks according to the established work plan.

• Remove and send components for specialized repair and reinstall original or replacement parts.

• Ensure Caterpillar machinery meets required specifications.

⛳️ Requirements

• Exceptional customer service skills.

• Extensive knowledge of plant equipment.

• Capability to visit sites and effectively resolve mechanical or electrical issues in a safe, timely, and cost-efficient manner.

• Apprentice trained or formally qualified Engineer.

• Preferred NVQ Level 3 in Land-Based Engineering or Plant Fitting.

• Significant experience as a field service engineer, or a developmental opportunity for a qualified apprentice.

• Essential familiarity with field-based diagnostic tools and equipment.

• Knowledge of heavy earth-moving equipment operations.

• Valid LDV driving license.

• Experience with a range of construction and static machinery is essential.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

• Strong planning and organizational skills.

• Capacity to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

• Effective problem-solving and analytical capabilities.

• Self-motivated and dynamic individual.
