This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Act as a representative for the Association to key stakeholders.
• Develop cohesive initiatives focused on disaster resilience, sustainable communities, zero emissions, air and water quality advocacy, and energy justice.
• Create and uphold systems for managing campaigns, initiatives, and projects.
• Oversee reporting activities and monitor metrics and outcomes for grant-funded projects and other assignments.
• Organize and coordinate team, committee, and various meetings.
• Assist with administrative and operational tasks within the Center.
• Contribute to the development of organizational strategy and programming.
• Support legal, policy, social, cultural, and economic analysis to identify key priorities and influence advocacy and programming.
• Cultivate new relationships and sustain strategic partnerships with foundations, government entities, non-governmental organizations, and other stakeholders.
• Compose research briefs, public comments, reports, blog entries, website content, and other forms of communication.
• Provide technical, research, and other support to the Director and the Center.
• Offer intellectual leadership both internally and externally.
• Lead, mentor, energize, and collaborate with a dynamic team.
• Research and coordinate legislative, legal, field, and engagement strategies.
• Collaborate with other Centers of Innovation.
• Enhance communication within the environmental and climate justice sectors.
• Assess and evaluate initiatives and outcomes.
• Provide technical assistance to state conferences, units, and NAACP committees.
• Communicate change strategies and convene stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement and learning.
• Execute additional duties as assigned by the Director or their designee.
• A Bachelor's degree and a graduate degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience is preferred.
• A minimum of three to five years of experience in relevant fields, including direct involvement in environmental and climate justice, and experience in non-profit, legal, policy, advocacy, or other civil rights organizations.
• Graduate-level internships, fellowships, lived experiences, and volunteer leadership in campaigns will be considered acceptable professional experience.
• Proven effectiveness in high-quality written and verbal communication.
• Experience in fostering external partnerships and collaborations with foundations, non-profit organizations, corporations, and other essential communities, groups, and coalitions.
• Demonstrated experience in coordinating complex advocacy strategies.
• Established background in legislative, civil rights, community or movement-based advocacy, and/or environmental justice advocacy.
• Proven experience in project management and grant reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to support innovative research projects and engage with diverse audiences.
• Strong attention to detail, critical thinking skills, problem-solving capabilities, and emotional intelligence.
