Family Access Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Act as the patient-facing authority on the journey of rare disease patients and serve as a liaison for Biogen team members.

• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to assist patients in starting and continuing their rare disease therapies.

• Identify and address logistical and non-clinical obstacles that impact the initiation of treatment and ongoing therapy.

• Provide support to patients and families through education about the disease/product, coordination of care sites, navigation of payer policies and procedures, and access to support services.

• Advocate for patients in cross-functional meetings and ensure accurate case plans are maintained.

• Address access issues related to insurance coverage, reimbursement, financial constraints, site of care, procurement, and distribution.

• Collaborate with Market Access & Reimbursement teams, payers, specialty pharmacies, and specialty distributors to guarantee access.

• Offer emotional support and work closely with patients, families, caregivers, healthcare providers, and advocacy partners.

• Evaluate patient needs, payer policies, plan designs, Medicaid coverage, and local healthcare systems.

• Create and propose solutions, including alternative insurance options and connections to available resources.

• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about Biogen products and Patient Services.

• Initiate activities that foster openness and understanding of rare diseases.

• Establish local rare disease advocacy networks and build relationships through events and national conferences.

• Acquire expertise in Biogen’s rare disease portfolio and resources to enhance support for patients and caregivers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of business experience in the healthcare or biotech sector, with a minimum of 3 years in field-based roles such as account management, sales, or field reimbursement.

• Experience in rare diseases is preferred.

• Proven track record in field reimbursement, clinical education, or pharmaceutical sales/management of products necessitating substantial payer and reimbursement engagement.

• Familiarity with physician-administered drugs (PADs)/biologics and various outpatient service settings.

• In-depth understanding of field/patient reimbursement, charitable funding, and non-profit organizations.

• Experience in leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.

• Case management experience or direct support for patients/caregivers is a plus.

• Knowledge of the legal and regulatory landscape relevant to the biotech industry.

• High emotional intelligence, strong communication, listening, and empathy skills are essential.

• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is advantageous.

• Ability to effectively manage complex, individualized cases.

• Must be willing to travel up to 60% of the time.

• A valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets Biogen's standards are required.

• A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
