EU Proposal Writer, Funding Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Greece.

📋 Description

• Identify and evaluate pertinent funding opportunities within Horizon Europe, Digital Europe, EDF, Eurostars, and cascade funding calls.

• Analyze call documents, expected outcomes, and evaluation criteria, and suggest opportunities that align with them.

• Create project concepts and compose comprehensive proposals that encompass technical excellence, methodology, implementation, impact, exploitation, and dissemination.

• Collaborate with technical specialists to articulate the current state of the art, proposed innovations, use cases, validation activities, and technology readiness levels.

• Organize work packages, tasks, deliverables, milestones, performance indicators, and risk management plans.

• Identify prospective partners, assist in consortium development, and coordinate contributions from companies, research organizations, and stakeholders.

• Prepare project budgets, effort allocations, and supplementary financial information in conjunction with finance and technical teams.

• Assist in EDF proposal preparation, accounting for call-specific requirements and eligibility, as well as consortium and security-related checks.

• Manage submission timelines, supporting documents, and application platforms; ensure completeness, consistency, and compliance.

• Aid in addressing clarification requests, grant preparation, and the transition of successful proposals to the project delivery team.

• Maintain records of proposals and reusable materials, analyze evaluation feedback, and enhance future submissions.

• Collaborate directly with technical teams to develop AI2CYBER’s cybersecurity technologies and provide specialized security services.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in writing and submitting European funding proposals, with clear personal accountability for significant sections or entire applications.

• Exceptional written English and the capability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and persuasively.

• Working knowledge of cybersecurity, including areas such as cyber threat intelligence, application security, vulnerability management, security operations, and critical infrastructure protection.

• Familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts, including generative AI, intelligent automation, trustworthy AI, and the security of AI systems.

• Understanding of quantum technologies and their security implications, particularly in quantum computing, post-quantum cryptography, and quantum-safe communications.

• Knowledge of the European Defence Fund, including its research and development focus, call documentation, proposal requirements, evaluation methods, and consortium considerations.

• Ability to link technical objectives with measurable outcomes, implementation plans, budgets, and exploitation opportunities.

• Strong research, organizational, and stakeholder coordination skills, with the ability to manage concurrent deadlines while maintaining document quality.

• Confidence in working independently while proactively seeking input and validation from technical and business colleagues.

• A significant contribution to proposals that have been awarded funding, particularly in the areas of cybersecurity, AI, quantum technologies, or defense.

• Direct involvement in writing EDF proposals or developing consortia.

• Experience in defense research, dual-use technologies, or partnerships with industrial partners and research institutions.

• Familiarity with the EU Funding & Tenders Portal and other funding submission platforms.

• Experience in developing exploitation strategies, business cases, intellectual property strategies, and commercialization plans.

• Experience in supporting grant preparation, project reporting, or technical deliverables following a funding award.
