EpiC Project Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the EpiC initiative, a global health program funded by PEPFAR and the US Government for eight years.

• Fulfill the project’s vision, strategy, outcomes, and contractual commitments.

• Direct the technical team and manage relationships with both national and international partners and stakeholders.

• Oversee the final year of implementation, ensuring compliant closeout through December 2027.

• Implement comprehensive project work plans and monitor the progress of activities.

• Provide managerial oversight for project activities and transition efforts to other applicable mechanisms.

• Ensure adherence to donor, organizational, and project-specific policies.

• Submit required contractual deliverables and respond to donor inquiries regarding performance, success stories, and financial data.

• Supervise technical assistance, administrative support, and the closeout of subcontracts and sub-grants.

• Address issues related to sub-award and contract implementation, including modifications, compliance, disputes, and audit findings.

• Manage financial systems, budgets, and timely financial deliverables alongside the Director of Finance.

• Mentor, motivate, and develop the project team.

• Ensure a safe, equitable, harassment-free, and violence-free workplace, including safeguarding systems.

• Implement personnel policies and communicate procedures effectively to the staff.

• Act as the primary liaison for the Department of State Grants Officer Representative.

• Facilitate effective communication across the project and with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Maintain networks of partners and stakeholders, representing the project on steering and advisory groups.

• Report to the Vice President of Health Programs and supervise senior team members within a matrixed structure.

• Establish project goals and budgets, coordinate cross-functional resources, resolve project issues, and facilitate team discussions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master’s Degree or its international equivalent in Communication and Social Marketing, Economic Development, Education, Health, Nutrition, Research, Technology and Youth, or a related field.

• Typically requires over 15 years of relevant experience in project management principles and practices.

• Typically requires over 10 years of strategic leadership and/or management experience.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as Chief of Party, Principal Investigator, or Project Director on USG-funded global health initiatives.

• Proficient in USG rules, regulations, and policies related to international development and NGOs.

• Experience in managing and implementing multi-sector projects.

• Background in strategic planning, staff development, and capacity building.

• Proven experience in leading and managing complex, strategic international projects.

• Experience working in insecure environments.

• Track record of successfully closing out USG-funded projects, particularly global, multi-country initiatives.

• Experience in an NGO setting.

• Excellent management, communication, and organizational skills.

• Knowledgeable in project management, process development, and execution.

• Familiarity with nonprofit funding streams.

• Strong skills in time management, multitasking, organization, negotiation, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving.

• Demonstrated abilities in public relations, policy development, project management, and diplomacy.

• Capacity to establish working relationships with local communities, government officials, UN representatives, and donors.

• Fluent in English, with proficient reading, writing, and speaking abilities.

• Skilled in using personal computers, Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, Skype/Zoom/Teams, mobile technology, and standard office equipment.

• Project Management (PM) Certification is preferred.

• Willingness and ability to travel 10%–25% of the time.

• Successful completion of reference checks, criminal record checks, terrorism finance checks, and misconduct disclosure screening.
