Entry Level Background Investigator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Conduct thorough interviews with subjects, employers, associates, references, and other informed individuals.

• Review relevant records to gather essential facts.

• Address all significant issues within a case.

• Determine the background, reputation, character, suitability, or qualifications of the individuals being investigated.

• Perform interviews using Virtual Teleconference (VTC), telephone, and in-person meetings, with VTC being the primary method.

• Participate in multiweek intensive virtual training sessions.

• Engage in additional shadowing and mentorship alongside an experienced Investigator.

• May require travel across the U.S. for temporary duty assignments, typically lasting two weeks.

• Bachelor’s Degree or a minimum of 4 years of general experience demonstrating progressive responsibility in problem-solving, planning, organizing work, and effective oral and written communication.

• Capability to obtain and maintain a favorable determination based on a T5 Investigation.

• Strong commitment to supporting national security initiatives.

• Exemplary work ethic, integrity, and a positive, proactive attitude.

• Proficiency in navigating and utilizing multiple technology systems concurrently.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license.

• Access to a reliable personal vehicle.

• Willingness to travel locally based on assignment location.

• Home office must be equipped with dependable high-speed Internet.

• Ability to sit, type, stand, or walk for extended durations.

• Excellent time management abilities with effective prioritization skills.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

• Capacity to convey complex or sensitive information effectively.

• Ability to listen attentively, respond to nonverbal cues appropriately, and deliver clear and convincing oral presentations.

• Skill in maintaining strong relationships with diverse individuals and managing challenging situations with tact and professionalism.

• Proficiency in correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

• Active Top Secret Clearance based on a T5 (preferred).
