English to German – Legal Translator/Editor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Translate and/or edit legal materials from English into German.

• Provide legal language services for a client of the United States Government.

• Utilize accurate U.S. legal and technical terminology in English-to-German translations.

• Accept freelance assignments on an as-needed basis.

• Be available during the hours of 9–5 EST on most days and commit to at least 15 hours per week if necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory.

• Willingness to undergo security clearance processing and fingerprinting is essential.

• A minimum of three years of experience in translating and/or editing legal content is required.

• At least three years of experience in delivering professional legal language services is necessary.

• Native proficiency in the German language is required.

• Significant experience in legal language services is essential.

• A bachelor's degree in a foreign language, linguistics, or a related field is required.

• Proficiency in using CAT tools is necessary.

• Experience with Trados is required for translators or editors.

• Strong organizational skills and a solid understanding of language services are important.

• Advanced proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in English and the target foreign language(s) is required.

• Availability during the hours of 9–5 EST on most days is necessary.

• Must be able to accept on-demand assignments for at least 15 hours per week if necessary.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are crucial.
