English to French – Legal Translator, Editor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Convert and/or revise legal documents from English to French.

• Provide legal language services for a client in the United States Government.

• Accept freelance assignments on an as-needed basis.

• Remain available during 9–5 EST on most days to support assignments.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory.

• Minimum of three years’ experience in translating and/or editing legal content.

• Three years of experience delivering professional legal language services.

• Familiarity with accurate U.S. legal and technical terminology in English to French.

• Native proficiency in the French language is essential.

• Significant experience in legal language services is required.

• A bachelor's degree in a foreign language, linguistics, or a related field is necessary.

• Proficiency in using CAT tools is essential.

• Experience with Trados is required.

• Strong organizational skills and a solid understanding of language services are needed.

• Advanced skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in both English and the target foreign language(s) are required.

• Availability during 9–5 EST on most days is essential.

• Willingness to accept on-demand assignments for at least 15 hours a week if required.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are necessary.

• Must be willing to undergo security clearance processing and fingerprinting.
