Engineering Tech Lead – Migration Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +2 more locations.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the architecture for extraction, transformation, and orchestration throughout the entire migration pipeline.

• Convert technical strategies into implementable platform increments collaboratively with the team.

• Acquire in-depth knowledge of the CARET Legal data model and its connection to application behaviors, workflows, and customer outcomes.

• Comprehend legal practice management and accounting workflows, along with customer challenges and data relationships.

• Design scalable, precise, and traceable migration systems for legal practice data across various firms and source systems.

• Create repeatable go-live patterns that enhance the speed and predictability of migrations.

• Transform complex problems into actionable tasks with the technical product manager while making disciplined delivery trade-offs.

• Leverage AI in migration assessment, mapping, validation, and engineering workflows to enhance speed, quality, and scalability.

• Lead the team in establishing technical standards, documentation, and handoff practices.

• Act as the technical liaison for operations and migrations, ensuring alignment with planning and customer delivery needs.

• Collaborate with the technical product manager on roadmap priorities and guide the team through design, implementation, and delivery.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in building data-intensive backend systems, including leading architectural initiatives across a team.

• Proficient in reverse engineering application systems through forensic analysis of foundational data structures and storage.

• Extensive experience in developing reliable data pipelines and ETL/ELT systems, encompassing extraction, change data capture, transformation, and orchestration at scale.

• Practical experience with SQL, a transformation framework like dbt, and cloud orchestration tools such as Microsoft Fabric or Azure Data Factory.

• Strong emphasis on correctness, observability, and traceability within data engineering practices.

• Capability to function as a hands-on technical lead, defining direction, elevating engineering standards, and contributing code.

• Pragmatic approach to scope and sequencing, demonstrating the judgment to balance foundational platform needs with practical AI and automation solutions.

• Experience leading data migration or system-to-system consolidation projects.

• Familiarity with multi-tenant SaaS applications and systems.

• Background in legal, fintech, healthcare, or similar fields requiring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.

• Experience in establishing a new platform or team from inception.

• Experience utilizing AI or LLMs to expedite data mapping, assessment, or transformation processes.
