This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +2 more states.
• Recruit, nurture, and expand an engineering team.
• Offer engineering oversight and leadership to fulfill project needs while managing a limited project load.
• Collaborate closely with the Engineering Director, providing technical guidance to engineers.
• Assist the Director of Engineering in achieving departmental objectives.
• Hire, select, onboard, train, assign, schedule, mentor, counsel, and manage employee discipline.
• Establish job expectations and evaluate employee performance and compensation decisions.
• Provide engineering insights and recommendations for strategic planning.
• Develop and execute action plans while implementing standards for production, productivity, quality, and customer service.
• Troubleshoot issues, conduct audits, identify trends, and implement enhancements to administrative systems.
• Offer technical and procedural guidance to ensure proper engineering practices throughout projects.
• Cultivate and sustain relationships with senior engineering leaders, managers, executives, and both current and prospective clients.
• Coordinate efforts with engineering offices and shared resources.
• Facilitate cross-training for employees on multi-client standards.
• Collaborate with Business Development to ensure a steady workflow pipeline and backlog.
• Present technical solutions to clients and address technical inquiries.
• Delegate, organize, prioritize, and forecast engineering needs and training schedules.
• Engage in client meetings and site visits to gather or present design and engineering data.
• Provide technical assistance for quotes and estimating processes.
• Review and authorize employee timesheets and expense reports.
• Ensure adherence to project cost, quality, and scheduling requirements.
• Conduct audits to verify that design packages comply with Qualus' QA/QC process.
• Supervise internal training by identifying staff requirements and coordinating training resources.
• Participate in Project Kickoff meetings covering scope, specifications, budgets, schedules, and safety protocols.
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited institution.
• A Master's Degree in Engineering may be accepted in place of the Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
• International Engineering Degrees from an ABET-accredited institution may be considered.
• Minimum of 5 years of management experience in the energy sector.
• Background in systems protection and relay settings.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred.
• A Master's Degree in Engineering Management or an MBA is advantageous.
