This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +2 more states.
• Recruit, develop, and expand a Protection & Control engineering team.
• Offer engineering supervision and leadership to meet project demands while managing a limited project load.
• Collaborate closely with the Engineering Director, providing technical oversight to engineers based in the office.
• Recruit, select, onboard, train, assign, schedule, mentor, guide, and discipline team members.
• Set clear job expectations and assess employee contributions along with compensation actions.
• Contribute engineering insights and recommendations to strategic planning efforts.
• Prepare and execute action plans to implement production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards.
• Resolve issues, conduct audits, identify trends, and implement improvements to administrative systems.
• Provide technical and procedural guidance to ensure adherence to proper engineering processes throughout projects.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with senior engineering staff, managers, executives, and existing or prospective clients.
• Coordinate activities with engineering offices where shared resources are utilized.
• Facilitate cross-training of employees on multi-client standards.
• Collaborate with Business Development to ensure consistency in pipeline and backlog management.
• Present technical solutions to key customers while addressing their technical concerns and inquiries.
• Delegate tasks, plan, prioritize, and forecast engineering needs and training schedules.
• Engage in client meetings and site visits to gather or present design and engineering information.
• Provide technical support for quotes and cost estimation.
• Review and approve employee timesheets and expense reports.
• Ensure that project cost, quality, and scheduling requirements are fulfilled.
• Conduct audits to verify that design packages comply with Qualus’ QA/QC processes.
• Oversee internal training by recognizing staff needs and organizing training resources.
• Attend Project Kickoff meetings to discuss scope, specifications, budgets, schedules, and safety obligations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
• At least 5 years of management experience within the energy sector.
• Proficient in utility protection and control engineering.
• A Master's degree in Engineering Management or an MBA is advantageous.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred.
