
Engineering Manager – Overhead Transmission Line

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +2 more states.
• Recruit, nurture, and expand a team of engineers specializing in overhead transmission line projects.
• Provide engineering oversight and leadership while managing a limited number of projects.
• Collaborate closely with the Engineering Director to ensure technical guidance for engineering staff.
• Hire, orient, train, assign tasks, schedule, mentor, advise, and take disciplinary action as needed for employees.
• Set job expectations and evaluate employee performance and compensation decisions.
• Offer engineering insights and suggestions for strategic planning initiatives.
• Develop and execute action plans while establishing productivity, quality, and customer service standards.
• Address issues, conduct audits, identify patterns, enhance administrative systems, and facilitate change.
• Provide oversight and technical guidance to ensure adherence to proper engineering methodologies.
• Cultivate and sustain relationships with senior engineering leadership, managers, executives, and clients.
• Coordinate efforts across engineering offices and shared resources.
• Cross-train team members on standards applicable to multiple clients.
• Collaborate with Business Development to manage workflow and backlog effectively.
• Present technical solutions to clients and address any technical inquiries.
• Organize, prioritize, and forecast engineering needs and training schedules.
• Engage in client meetings and conduct site visits as necessary.
• Offer technical support for quotations and estimation processes.
• Review and authorize employee timesheets and expense reports.
• Ensure adherence to project cost, quality, and scheduling requirements.
• Conduct QA/QC audits on design packages.
• Supervise internal training initiatives.
• Attend Project Kickoff meetings to discuss scope, specifications, budgets, schedules, and safety protocols.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or a related discipline) from an ABET-accredited institution.
• At least 5 years of management experience in the energy sector.
• Possession of a Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Preferred experience in high-voltage utility infrastructure transmission line design.
• A Master’s Degree in Engineering Management or an MBA is considered an advantage.
