This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assemble and guide a team of object storage engineers through mentorship, constructive feedback, and clear technical direction.
• Propel essential product initiatives from concept to launch while ensuring a balance between speed, reliability, and quality.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Infrastructure teams to convert customer requirements into technical solutions and product roadmaps.
• Steer system design choices and assist the team in navigating architectural trade-offs.
• Cultivate ownership, accountability, and ongoing enhancement in engineering practices and team processes.
• Decompose intricate problems into manageable milestones that provide rapid value and support the long-term evolution of the platform.
• Ensure a thorough understanding of the developer experience and customer impact for features developed by the team.
• Work alongside product management, customers, and internal teams to align priorities and deliver impactful features and solutions.
• Mentor engineers and ensure the team delivers significant improvements swiftly.
• Over 8 years of experience as an Engineer delivering products and/or features that have downstream effects on the business and product ecosystem.
• Preferably, experience in building stateful services.
• At least 2 years of experience in managing personnel and developing engineers, including hiring, mentorship, and performance management.
• Robust technical foundation in system design, architecture, and engineering trade-offs.
• Product-focused mindset with a track record of translating business objectives and user needs into engineering roadmaps and released features.
• Capability to balance urgency with thoughtful execution while upholding high quality standards.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills across engineering, product, and design disciplines.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability for team outcomes and the long-term health of the system.
• This position is generally not eligible for new visa sponsorship; existing visa transfers may be sponsored at Render's discretion, subject to business authorization.
