Engineering Manager – International Expansion

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +45 more states.

📋 Description

• Guide and support a team of software engineers in the design and development of high-quality software solutions.

• Spearhead engineering initiatives for the e-commerce platform, emphasizing scalability, user experience, and global expansion.

• Collaborate with product management, machine learning, marketing, and various cross-functional teams.

• Design and implement international capabilities for buyers.

• Supervise the development and upkeep of core Ruby on Rails and Elixir systems.

• Ensure that core systems are scalable, performant, and secure.

• Promote technical excellence, innovation, continuous learning, and improvement.

• Align engineering efforts with the overall objectives of the company.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in managing and scaling distributed, cloud-native systems and services.

• Practical experience collaborating with machine learning teams.

• Strong knowledge of relational database systems, with a preference for MySQL or PostgreSQL.

• Exceptional leadership abilities, with the capacity to mentor and motivate a team of engineers.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Solid foundation in system design principles.

• Some experience in people management, with a history of assisting engineers in their professional growth.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

• Significant experience in Ruby on Rails development and architecture is preferred.

• Experience with Jamstack-based applications and enhancing their performance is preferred.

• Familiarity with CRMs such as Salesforce is preferred.

• Experience with Elixir or a willingness to learn and integrate it into the technology stack is preferred.

• Experience with localization/internationalization and cross-border systems within larger organizations is preferred.
