Engineering Manager – Asset Personalization Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead the team in creating a product platform that facilitates the rapid development of innovative and tailored member experiences.

• Enhance Netflix's asset personalization systems to drive significant business outcomes.

• Foster a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture.

• Mentor a diverse group of engineers, ranging from seasoned professionals to newcomers.

• Improve the architecture to enable new product functionalities.

• Work closely with Content Creative teams, Machine Learning researchers, Product Management, Product Design, Data Engineering, and both product and client engineering teams.

• Design and maintain high-throughput, low-latency systems that provide personalized assets in real-time to Netflix UI clients.

• Guide the team’s roadmap by aligning its initiatives with business objectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of experience leading backend distributed systems teams.

• Strong technical expertise and capability to serve as a technical advisor to the team.

• Proven experience in building and managing distributed systems that directly enhance customer experience.

• Experience in developing product platforms is advantageous.

• History of improving consumer experiences through collaborations with product leaders.

• Ability to influence product strategy and roadmaps effectively.

• A successful track record in recruiting diverse, highly skilled engineers and nurturing impactful teams.

• Exceptional communication skills for sharing context with the team, stakeholders, partners, and leadership.

• Ability to steer the team’s roadmap by linking their efforts with business needs, managing expectations, and balancing competing priorities.

• Domain knowledge in personalization, AB testing, machine learning, cloud computing, and Java.

• A leadership approach that emphasizes feedback, nurturing new ideas, and empowering team members without micromanaging.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related field.
