This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Co-lead an independent engineering team in collaboration with a Product Manager
• Foster clarity, consistency, and momentum within the team
• Advocate for the team’s perspective to senior leadership
• Serve as a liaison with stakeholders across the organization
• Take ownership of technical decisions and ensure alignment with company and technical strategy
• Identify opportunities for improvement in engineering practices
• Establish team objectives and manage prioritization
• Implement security and operational SLO practices
• Oversee organization-wide on-call availability
• Conduct regular reviews of metrics related to coverage and performance
• Collaborate with the Product Manager and team to set OKRs
• Recognize and address risks and obstacles
• Evaluate and enhance team performance
• Report progress on OKRs, KPIs, and milestones
• Co-lead the annual and quarterly planning processes
• Assemble the team with necessary technical expertise
• Facilitate onboarding, training, development, and coaching for engineers
• Engage in performance calibration and promotion assessments
• Communicate the company's, department's, and pillar's strategic goals
• Provide domain insights and context to stakeholders
• Promote a healthy team culture and address interpersonal conflicts
• Relay changes within the company and department
• Collaborate with UX and Data teams
• Ensure that team operational expenditures (OpEx) and capital expenditures (CapEx) stay within budget
• Familiarity (experience is advantageous) with gRPC, GraphQL, React, Kafka, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Experience with Go is preferred but not mandatory
• Proven experience leading the technical design process and facilitating design discussions
• Capability to represent the team in cross-functional technical discussions
• Ability to drive technical decisions towards clear, well-documented outcomes
• Experience in validating designs and architecture against real-world edge cases and domain variations
• Ownership of technical decisions that align with product and engineering strategy
• Strong grasp of engineering best practices
• Practical experience with AI development tools
• Experience in establishing team goals and managing prioritization
• Skill in creating clarity amidst competing priorities, technical options, or complex legacy system migrations
• Ability to set OKRs with Product Managers and co-lead annual and quarterly planning
• Experience in identifying and mitigating risks proactively
• Proven track record of enhancing delivery predictability
• Familiarity with practices for security and SLOs
• Ability to promote operational excellence and lead metrics reviews
• Experience managing a team of engineers
• Demonstrated ability to onboard, train, develop, and mentor team members
• Experience in participating in performance calibration and promotion reviews
• Intermediate understanding of customer and market insights
• Ability to communicate strategy effectively to the team
• Experience in building deep domain knowledge beyond straightforward scenarios
• Capability to challenge unclear or incomplete requirements or designs
• Experience working within complex, multi-variant domains such as billing, pricing, identity, or claims
• Proven ability to foster a positive team dynamic and resolve interpersonal conflicts
• Ability to collaborate efficiently with cross-functional colleagues
