This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +2 more states.
• Recruit, nurture, and expand a distribution engineering team
• Offer engineering oversight and leadership to fulfill project needs
• Manage a limited project load according to backlog requirements
• Collaborate closely with the Engineering Director and provide technical guidance to office-based engineers
• Hire, train, orient, schedule, mentor, counsel, and assess employees
• Contribute engineering insights and recommendations to strategic initiatives
• Develop and execute action plans, implementing production, quality, customer service, and operational standards
• Offer technical and procedural guidance to ensure proper engineering practices throughout projects
• Build and sustain relationships with senior engineering leaders, managers, executives, and current or potential clients
• Coordinate efforts with engineering offices and shared resources
• Cross-train personnel on multi-client standards
• Collaborate with Business Development on pipeline and workflow backlog
• Present technical solutions to clients and address technical inquiries
• Plan, prioritize, delegate, and forecast engineering needs and training schedules
• Engage in client meetings and site visits to gather or provide design and engineering information
• Offer technical assistance for quotes and estimates
• Review and authorize employee timesheets and expense reports
• Ensure adherence to project cost, quality, and scheduling requirements
• Conduct design package audits for compliance with Qualus’ QA/QC process
• Supervise internal training by identifying staff needs and coordinating training resources
• Participate in project kickoff meetings covering scope, specifications, budgets, schedules, and safety standards
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or a related discipline) from an ABET-accredited institution
• At least 5 years of management experience in the energy sector
• Experience with utility distribution design projects
• Highly preferred experience in Complex System Expansion or Government Conversion projects
• Master’s Degree in Engineering Management or an MBA is advantageous
• Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred
