This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead, mentor, and cultivate a team of two DevOps engineers.
• Take ownership of the health and advancement of the DevOps function, encompassing infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and release processes.
• Develop and implement a DevOps roadmap that aligns with both engineering and business objectives.
• Collaborate with software engineers to enhance developer experience and deployment reliability.
• Reinforce infrastructure as code, automation standards, and operational runbooks.
• Supervise production operations, including monitoring, alerting, incident response, and root cause analysis.
• Promote reliability, availability, backup and recovery preparedness, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Guide secure infrastructure and delivery practices in conjunction with security and engineering leaders.
• Manage and optimize AWS usage for scalability, resilience, and cost-effectiveness.
• Monitor and report on operational metrics such as deployment frequency, change failure rate, availability, mean time to recovery, and cloud expenditures.
• Assess tooling and vendor options for a small engineering team.
• Assist in future hiring and expansion of the DevOps function.
• Leverage AI coding assistants and automation tools in daily workflows.
• Report directly to the VP of Engineering.
• Work collaboratively with software engineering, QA, security, leadership, and non-technical stakeholders.
• Over 6 years of experience in DevOps, platform, SRE, or infrastructure engineering.
• At least 2 years of experience leading engineers directly or serving as a technical lead for a small DevOps/platform team.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS in a production environment.
• Proven track record of building and enhancing CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.
• Demonstrated experience in operating production systems with a focus on reliability, observability, and incident response.
• Knowledge of cloud security fundamentals, secrets management, identity and access control, and secure deployment practices.
• Solid understanding of Linux, networking fundamentals, and shell-based troubleshooting.
• Experience in scripting or software development using Python, Bash, or similar languages.
• Ability to review and refine AI-generated code or configuration applying sound engineering judgment.
• Excellent communication skills and capability to engage across engineering, leadership, and non-technical stakeholders.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Must successfully pass a standard background check and drug test.
• Preferred: experience in healthcare or regulated environments.
• Preferred: familiarity with serverless AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, EventBridge, RDS, or Aurora.
• Preferred: experience with AWS CDK, Terraform, or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Preferred: compliance-focused engineering practices.
• Preferred: improvement of developer experience for small engineering teams.
• Preferred: knowledge of PostgreSQL, application performance monitoring, and AWS cost optimization.
• Preferred: experience with AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
• Preferred: support for remote engineering teams and coordination across time zones.
