Engineering Manager, Core Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Bulgaria.

📋 Description

• Recruit, mentor, and establish clear objectives for a team of engineers.

• Create a strategic plan for architecture, upgrades, autoscaling, and capacity in infrastructure, databases, and Kubernetes clusters.

• Ensure that platforms achieve both availability and security objectives.

• Minimize the time required for product engineers to deploy and manage services on the platform.

• Assist product engineering teams in making cost-effective decisions regarding platform services.

• Communicate team context and foster relationships across teams.

• Weigh technical decisions against the goals of the team and the company.

• Monitor team productivity using metrics such as DORA and SPACE, driving measurable enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in distributed computing.

• More than 3 years in leadership roles within engineering.

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

• In-depth knowledge of AWS, GCP, or both, particularly in a regulated environment with security protocols.

• Proven experience operating Kubernetes in production environments using GitOps (preferably ArgoCD).

• Familiarity with AI tools like Claude and the ability to guide engineers and customers in their effective use.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

• Experience in managing stakeholders across various teams and functions.

• Experience in platform engineering that simplifies Kubernetes complexity into a reliable internal product (noteworthy qualification).

• Experience in creating and maintaining Kubernetes operators (noteworthy qualification).
