This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Lead and nurture a team of cloud software engineers through coaching, mentoring, providing feedback, and creating growth opportunities.
• Empower engineers to spearhead initiatives, acknowledge contributions, and cultivate a sense of accountability.
• Foster an inclusive and psychologically safe environment that promotes collaboration, learning, innovation, and respectful challenges.
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, succession planning, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Enhance and refine existing Go-based healthcare platforms.
• Design and implement Go services and components for cloud-based solutions.
• Develop high-throughput, low-latency services for a global healthcare platform.
• Create and integrate APIs that allow users to share and utilize medical data within partner systems.
• Collaborate with the Information Security team to design and implement secure solutions.
• Ensure optimal performance, scalability, reliability, and uptime of the platform.
• Participate in architectural and operational decision-making alongside Architecture and Platform leadership.
• Identify capacity constraints, risks, dependencies, and execution challenges; effectively communicate progress and trade-offs.
• Align priorities with technical product owners and business stakeholders.
• Balance delivery objectives with platform sustainability, quality, security, observability, operability, performance, and reduction of technical debt.
• Evaluate experimentation and innovation based on customer needs, technical evidence, risk, and anticipated value.
• Build strong relationships across Product, Security, Quality, Regulatory, and other teams.
• Lead technical planning, design reviews, and promote engineering best practices.
• Keep abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, providing recommendations as needed.
• Support company initiatives and adhere to FDA and relevant global regulatory requirements.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree accompanied by 6+ years of related experience.
• Proven experience supporting engineers across various product teams, programs, or matrixed structures.
• Background in software engineering focused on cloud-based or distributed systems.
• Technical fluency to engage in architecture, risk assessment, and delivery discussions.
• Experience in coaching engineers in problem-solving, sound judgment, and professional development.
• Proficiency in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex asynchronous messaging and backend processing tasks.
• Experience contributing to scalable, highly available, maintainable, and monitorable architectures.
• Ability to translate business and product objectives into engineering priorities, delivery timelines, and measurable outcomes.
• Capability to balance delivery speed with reliability, security, quality, maintainability, and the long-term health of the platform.
• Comfort in working asynchronously with a distributed team.
• Strong written, verbal, and listening communication skills.
• Solid Computer Science fundamentals and software development experience.
• Preferred: experience leading teams using Go or other modern cloud-native programming languages.
• Preferred: familiarity with public cloud platforms and managed database, messaging, event-streaming, API, and service technologies.
• Preferred: experience treating internal platforms as products.
• Preferred: knowledge of agile product development, automated testing, continuous delivery, observability, and secure development practices.
• Preferred: experience in digital health, medical devices, or regulated industries.
• Preferred: experience developing software that complies with FDA or similar regulatory standards.
