This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +2 more states.
• Recruit, develop, and expand a civil structural engineering team.
• Provide engineering supervision and guidance while managing a limited project workload.
• Collaborate closely with the Engineering Director to ensure technical oversight of engineers.
• Assist the Director of Engineering in achieving departmental objectives.
• Recruit, select, onboard, train, assign, schedule, mentor, counsel, and discipline team members.
• Contribute engineering insights and recommendations to strategic initiatives.
• Prepare and execute action plans, implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards.
• Troubleshoot issues, conduct audits, identify trends, and implement improvements to administrative systems.
• Provide oversight and technical guidance throughout project lifecycles.
• Build and sustain relationships with senior engineering leaders, managers, executives, and current or potential clients.
• Coordinate efforts with engineering offices and shared resources.
• Cross-train employees on multi-client standards.
• Collaborate with Business Development to support pipeline and workflow management.
• Present technical solutions to key clients and address technical inquiries.
• Delegate tasks, plan, prioritize, and forecast engineering needs and training schedules.
• Engage in client meetings and job site visits to gather or convey design and engineering information.
• Provide technical assistance for quotes and estimating processes.
• Review and authorize employee timesheets and expense reports.
• Ensure project cost, quality, and scheduling criteria are met.
• Conduct audits to verify design packages adhere to Qualus’ QA/QC protocols.
• Oversee internal training by identifying staff development needs and coordinating training resources.
• Attend Project Kickoff meetings to discuss scope, specifications, budgets, schedules, and safety protocols.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• ABET accreditation is preferred.
• At least 5 years of management experience within the energy sector.
• Experience in transmission, distribution, and generating stations is advantageous.
• A Master’s Degree in Engineering Management or an MBA is a plus.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred.
• Capability to provide engineering supervision and technical leadership.
• Ability to coordinate tasks across engineering offices and shared resources.
• Proficiency in presenting technical solutions and addressing customer inquiries.
• Skills in planning, prioritizing, delegating, and forecasting engineering requirements.
• Competence in conducting client meetings and job site visits.
• Understanding of project cost, quality, schedule, and QA/QC standards.
