Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Mentor, guide, and develop software engineering and QA teams through one-on-one meetings, constructive feedback, and performance evaluations.

• Cultivate a psychologically safe, collaborative, and empowering team environment.

• Lead recruitment efforts for software engineering and QA positions.

• Create scalable QA strategies that integrate automated, manual, and regression testing methods.

• Monitor, analyze, and report on quality metrics and QA validation throughput.

• Enhance testing pipelines, bug triage processes, and validation criteria.

• Ensure that releases and testing protocols adhere to quality standards, data privacy, and HIPAA compliance.

• Design and improve SDLC processes and agile delivery practices.

• Distribute engineering and QA resources according to organizational priorities.

• Establish project tracking systems, milestones, and delivery dashboards.

• Collaborate effectively with Product, Clinical Operations, and Support teams.

• Articulate technical concepts and release readiness to non-technical stakeholders.

• Assess modern test automation frameworks, engineering methodologies, and AI tools.

• Write code, implement features, and resolve complex bugs in collaboration with team members.

• Facilitate discussions on technical design and conduct RFC reviews.

• Perform code reviews, advocate for unit/integration/end-to-end testing, and address production issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in software engineering, including a minimum of 2 years in an engineering management, tech lead, or player-coach role.

• Proven experience in managing or overseeing Quality Assurance (QA) functions, encompassing test strategy development, QA workflow design, and automated testing integration.

• Active programming skills in Node.js, Python, PostgreSQL, React, and serverless architectures such as AWS Lambda.

• Demonstrated ability to facilitate technical and architectural discussions while ensuring system reliability and scalability.

• A thoughtful approach to modern developer tools and AI, in alignment with team consensus, engineering ethics, and organizational policies.

• Proven history of managing quality metrics and validation throughput.

• Experience balancing direct technical contributions with people management and process ownership.

• Proficiency in modern quality assurance and operational practices, including test automation frameworks, CI/CD test suites, and observability/monitoring tools.

• Excellent, empathetic communication skills that connect technical and non-technical stakeholders across clinical and operational domains.

• Strong empathy for and understanding of the transgender community, including challenges in gender-affirming healthcare.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the USA; residency in the USA is required.

• Preferred: experience in telehealth, digital health, or HealthTech; familiarity with HIPAA and PHI protection.

• Preferred: experience with Playwright, Cypress, or Jest.

• Preferred: experience in startup or scale-up environments.

• Preferred: hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, such as Terraform.
