This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.
• Drive the successful execution and delivery of projects within the team.
• Oversee comprehensive technical planning and convert product requirements into actionable tasks.
• Facilitate collaboration among engineers, product managers, QA, UX, and other stakeholders.
• Take ownership of end-to-end delivery across cross-functional teams within the product domain.
• Assess business and product requirements for technical feasibility and alignment with architecture.
• Convert requirements into EPICs and technical user stories.
• Refine, groom, and prioritize the backlog in collaboration with Product Managers, UX Designers, and Engineers.
• Plan and drive sprint execution, timelines, milestones, and management of dependencies.
• Advocate for engineering processes and rituals that enhance collaboration, accountability, and efficiency.
• Monitor team velocity and capacity, optimizing resource allocation effectively.
• Coordinate cross-team dependencies and eliminate bottlenecks.
• Guide design decisions, uphold robust design patterns, and engage in code reviews.
• Ensure monitoring, alerting, and observability for services under your ownership, meeting SLIs and SLOs.
• Define, track, and publish post-release product metrics alongside Product Managers.
• Conduct performance reviews, offer feedback, and promote team development.
• Lead project status reviews and manage communication between teams and leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 8-10 years of experience as a Software Developer, Software Engineer, or in a comparable hands-on technical position.
• At least 5 years of experience in building production systems utilizing Java and Spring Boot.
• Minimum of 3 years of engineering leadership experience overseeing high-performing teams.
• Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and iterative delivery processes.
• Capability to translate intricate product requirements into EPICs, user stories, and tasks.
• Proficient backend engineering skills; familiarity with frontend development is an asset.
• Experience with project planning and tracking tools.
• Knowledge of engineering and product health metrics as well as monitoring tools.
• Proficient in debugging complex production issues, leading incident responses, and performing blameless root cause analysis.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, release management, and related metrics.
• Ability to drive alignment among technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Skills in risk management, dependency tracking, and stakeholder communication.
• Proven track record of enhancing team velocity, delivery predictability, and engineering quality.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, communication skills, adaptability, and attention to detail.
• Experience in managing and mentoring engineers.
• Ability to evaluate workload and manage resource distribution effectively.
• Competence in conducting performance reviews and delivering constructive feedback.
