This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
• Lead and provide mentorship to a team of full stack engineers.
• Promote technical excellence, collaboration, and accountability within the team.
• Facilitate agile methodologies, including daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and roadmap execution.
• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to clarify requirements, set milestones, and achieve business objectives.
• Perform code reviews, guide architectural decisions, and resolve intricate technical challenges.
• Manage the delivery pipeline, focusing on code quality, testing, CI/CD automation, and operational readiness.
• Shape system architecture utilizing Node.js, Typescript, Python, and AWS services.
• Cultivate an engineering culture that values craftsmanship, transparency, and ongoing improvement.
• Work alongside AI/ML engineers to incorporate models and automation into internal products and workflows.
• Advocate for DevOps and reliability best practices to ensure uptime and performance of essential systems.
• Recruit, onboard, and develop a high-performing engineering team.
• Report directly to the Director of Engineering while working closely with Product Management, Infrastructure, and Data teams.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in leadership roles or managing technical projects.
• Strong expertise in full stack development, including Python, Typescript, Node.js, React, FastAPI, or similar frameworks.
• Proven experience in managing agile development processes, such as kanban, scrum, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
• Experience in designing and delivering scalable, production-ready systems within a cloud environment, preferably AWS.
• Ability to partner with product teams on complex business challenges.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities, capable of translating technical efforts into clear business results.
• Demonstrated success in recruiting, mentoring, and developing engineering talent.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability throughout the architecture, delivery, and support phases.
• Prior experience in a startup or fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, or Jenkins.
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker, ECS, and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to AI/ML systems or experience integrating with LLM-driven workflows.
• Domain expertise in insurance, fintech, or other heavily regulated sectors, particularly in underwriting, rating, or policy systems.
• Experience in scaling teams and systems from initial stages to growth phases.
• Must have authorization to work in the United States or Canada without requiring sponsorship for work authorization.
