Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Bulgaria.

📋 Description

• Lead a diverse team of 5–10 engineers across backend, frontend, mobile, and QA disciplines.

• Develop and launch products that provide value to hundreds of thousands of businesses across Europe.

• Collaborate with the Product Manager to redefine problem framing and emphasize business outcomes.

• Analyze retention and conversion funnels in conjunction with system architecture.

• Assist the team in understanding ROI and prioritize tasks based on value and effort.

• Resolve technical challenges while balancing feature delivery and technical debt.

• Make informed technical decisions by weighing explicit trade-offs with scalability in mind.

• Conduct impactful one-on-one meetings, create growth plans, and manage hiring and promotions.

• Foster engaged teams through constructive feedback and coaching.

• Enhance team productivity by implementing better tools and smarter processes.

• Collaborate with Product and Design to ensure consistent and predictable delivery.

• Communicate proactively about priorities, risks, and constraints.

• Promote healthy discussions and move towards a “disagree and commit” approach when necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in software development, focusing on data-intensive production systems.

• Proven success in leading cross-functional engineering teams.

• Practical experience with at least one general-purpose programming language/platform: C#/.NET, Java/JVM, JavaScript/Node, or Go.

• Extensive technical expertise in distributed architectures, databases, messaging, and queuing systems.

• Background in product-led organizations, preferably with an international focus.

• Strong business insight linking engineering efforts to revenue, retention, and trust.

• Proficient in product metrics such as DAU/MAU, retention, and conversion funnels.

• Outstanding communication skills in English, suitable for all audiences.
