Engineering Manager

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team, which includes hiring, performance management, career growth, and technical guidance.

• Establish the technical direction and assist in defining the team roadmap.

• Convert ambiguous product and customer requirements into well-defined engineering priorities and measurable outcomes.

• Oversee architecture and evaluate critical design choices.

• Contribute to the creation of scalable, reliable, and secure production systems.

• Collaborate with Product, Design, Data Science, customer-facing teams, and engineering leadership on intricate initiatives from concept through to production.

• Leverage AI-native development tools and workflows to enhance engineering velocity while upholding standards for accuracy, security, reliability, and production readiness.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering, including substantial experience in building and managing production software systems.

• At least 2 years of experience in managing or technically leading engineers.

• Proven track record of hiring, nurturing, and retaining top engineering talent.

• Strong technical expertise in distributed systems, APIs, cloud infrastructure, or contemporary web application development.

• Capability to engage deeply in architectural and technical decision-making.

• Ability to steer large, ambiguous technical projects from strategy and architecture through to execution and production.

• Experience working effectively in fast-paced, high-growth environments.

• Excellent cross-functional communication skills and the ability to foster alignment among Engineering, Product, Data Science, and other stakeholders.

• Experience in building AI-powered or AI-native products, especially systems involving LLMs, agentic workflows, or intelligent automation (bonus).

• Familiarity with utilizing AI coding tools to expedite software development while reviewing and validating generated code (bonus).

• Background in an early-stage startup or as an initial engineering hire (bonus).

• Experience in insurance, fintech, enterprise SaaS, or other complex, highly regulated sectors (bonus).
